Virtual Space Travel

By Brooklyn Chomchai

8th Grade

Have you ever wondered what life would be like while living on a spacecraft? This is something only a select number of men and women can answer. But, now, thanks to a new virtual reality tour, many people are starting to experience how it would feel and what they would see if they were visiting the national space station. In the virtual reality tour, you can literally “step” on the floating lab and see the views and the mind-boggling equipment. This “trip” is called Mission: ISS. the tour uses oculus touch motion control and was created to give a realistic simulation of how life is aboard the national space station. This simulation is free and is based upon what real NASA astronauts have described about outer space. Now, this virtual reality tour is certainly no game. The zero-gravity effects of the machine may need you to take a seat before boarding the virtual station. Although the Mission: ISS is used to show what it is actually like to be in space, it is still being tested on how gravity affects spatial awareness. The Mission: ISS is still in the creation step of its journey, but when it is out for the open public, there is no way I would miss out on going on the virtual reality tour!
