St. Therese School (Wayland)

April 20, 2017

Students at St. Therese Catholic School in Wayland LOVE to read!  Which means that March, as Reading Month, is one of their favorite times of the year!

This year's theme focused on camping because "The s'more you read, the s'more you know!" Not only did students read, read and read some more IN school, they were also treated to a trip to Barnes & Noble Bookstore in Grandville to browse and purchase books, courtesy of a St. Therese alumnus.  Former Michigan State Representative came and read to the children, too. Students met and exceeded their book challenge by librarian Jen Grevenstuk.  Over 400 books were purchased for the month.  Meeting the challenge meant principal Jane Gee had to "camp out" in the gym for a day, which wasn't a problem at all with a cooler and a good book!

A special treat to end the month had Bishop Paul Bradley of the Diocese of Kalamazoo visiting to read.  Bishop Bradley visited each classroom so the children could show him various projects they had been working on.  The morning ended with the Bishop reading the Easter story and sharing in Lenten prayers.
