Asian Elephants

Asian elephants, like their name explains, live in southern Asia. They are smaller than African elephants, and their ears are much smaller. They can even live longer- the longest lifespan recorded was 80 years!

Asian elephants are usually grey, but can appear tan from dust and dirt. They do give themselves baths though! They almost always stay near a permanent water source and use approximately 21-53 gallons of water to bathe themselves.

These elephants are well known for domestication in some countries. What does that mean? It means the elephants are tamed and trained to help with various forms of work, including lifting logs. They are also used in celebrations, used as carriages, and in festivals. This also shows that these elephants are highly intelligent and aware.
