Pewamo-Westphalia Elementary

Pewamo-Westphalia Elementary School has a program called “Big Pirates, Little Pirates” and this year has already gotten off to a great start! Each year students in second through fifth grade are paired up with students in begindergarten, kindergarten and first grade. Throughout the year different activities will take place for the Big Pirates and Little Pirates. They will eat lunch together, spend time at recess together and participate in the activities. This year they marched in the Homecoming parade. The program is designed for students to make connections with children from different grade levels. It gives the students a friendly face in the hallway and the Little Pirates are excited to see their Big Pirates. The Big Pirates are also encouraging their Little Pirates to learn to read by spending time reading with them throughout the year. This program is one of the many reasons that P-W Elementary students enjoy coming to school.

Onward Pirates!
