Did you know that fruit may actually help kids do better in school? It's true! A 2008 study published in the "Journal of School Health" notes that a diet rich in fruits and vegetables results in higher test scores. A healthy diet that includes fruit can also increase children's focus in the classroom so they are able to learn new information, as well as retain what they've learned. Fruit is low in fat and calories, supplies key nutrients that kids need to grow and helps protect kids from illnesses and diseases as well. Elementary-age children need between 1 and 1 1/2 cups of fruit every day.
Here's a fun coloring activity for younger kids that helps them identify different types of fruit! Have a great Monday!
