Wilcox Elementary

The first of several services projects of the Wilcox Student Council was a rousing success! The students at Wilcox Elementary School in Holt, Michigan put on their first Book and Bake sale to support the Give-A-Kid a Christmas program. It was super successful as the sale raised over $500! The Student Council coordinator, Leah Porter, said this was way above the group’s expectations. The sale ran for four hours on a Tuesday in December. Wilcox students were able to purchase the books and snacks during their recess time. Families were able to come after school to shop together. The success of the sale was thanks to the many families who donated gently used books and baked the delicious treats! The student council is comprised of students in second, third, and fourth grade. Other service projects include “Welcome to Wilcox” packets provided to new incoming students to Wilcox Elementary as well projects to support the Ronald McDonald House, the Ingham County Animal Shelter, and Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
