Parents, here are some friendly reminders to help ensure your kids have a great Halloween this year. Stay Close to Mom and Dad – Young children should always have adult supervision when trick-or-treating. If you can’t go with them, see if another parent can take them. Kids should never go into a stranger’s house or even ring their doorbell unless a trusted adult is with them. Older kids should stay together as a group and check in or call home frequently. The Great Lakes and Glaciers Around a billion years ago, a fracture in the earth running from what is now Oklahoma to Lake Superior generated volcanic activity. It almost split North America. Over 20 million years, lava from the fracture flowed in this area. James Monroe was born April 28, 1758 in Westmoreland County, VA. His father was a successful planter. Both James’ parents died when he was a teenager. James Monroe attended the college of William and Mary. When he was 17, he raided a British armory (weapons storage) with several classmates. They took 200 muskets (guns) and 300 swords, which they gave to the Virginia militia. James Monroe married Elizabeth Kortright Monroe in 1786. He was 27; she was 17.
