Gateway North Elementary

Gateway North Elementary is an Ag-STEM school in St Johns, Michigan. Last year we received a grant from Michigan Farm Bureau to begin a school garden project. Miller Brothers Excavating donated the soil for our 3 raised beds. Our second graders planted the seeds and took good care of them in their portable greenhouse until they were ready to transplant outside. Kindergartners and second graders worked together to create take home salad gardens in a glove. After learning about how to properly space plants using our math skills we planted the beans outside. We had a prolific amount of beans to harvest over the summer and this fall. We look forward to expanding our gardens next spring. #grant
